Skin Care Game-Changer: The Face Shop Aloe Soothing Gel Review

Every now and then, we encounter products that change our lives in one way or another. I will be starting another series here in my blog in which I talk about skin care game-changers. Yes. Like the term suggests, I will be highlighting and raving about products that definitely changed my life and products I can say I can’t live without. I just love these products so much and I want to share them with you. (and review them as well) 🙂

Soothing gels, especially aloe ones, are all the rage now in Asia. The trend started in Korea and is spreading widely throughout the rest of Asia. The aloe vera plant has always been one of the most popular and most-used ingredients in skin care that is 100% natural and organic. I myself am a big fan of aloe. I love using aloe-containing skin care products and I’ve been loving the results they give to my skin. 🙂

PACKAGING – Is the packaging pretty enough to give as a gift to someone? Is it fragile? Is it sturdy or flimsy? Is it bulky or travel-friendly? Does it get dirty easily? Is it hygienic?

PERFORMANCE – Is it easy to use/apply? Are the instructions easy to follow? To whom do I particularly recommend this product? (dry, normal, combination, oily, sensitive, acne-prone, troubled, mature, wrinkled skin, men)

LONG TERM USE – Will I use it again or continuously? Will I repurchase it once I run out? Are there long-term skin benefits?

VARIETY – Are there enough choices or variants for everyone? If it is a product for a specific skin type, does it perform well?

VALUE FOR MONEY – In skin care, it does not matter whether the price is high or low; as long as the product works for one’s specific skin needs and/or preferences. But! J Of course I prefer more affordable brands. 😉 Also, it helps if the brand offers samples or deluxe sizes of their products so people can try it first before committing on the full size. 🙂

The Face Shop Soothing Aloe Gel 4.5 5 4.75 4.5

Overall Rating: 4.75/5

PACKAGING – The aloe soothing gel is housed in a plastic tub packaging. It is not the most hygienic packaging and it does not come with a spatula or any tool I can apply the product with. I know of some brands that package their soothing gels in squeezy tubes so I think it would be better of The Face Shop and other Korean brands can do that. The most popular brand of aloe gel is Nature Republic, and even that is in a tub packaging. I just hope they can change that so it would be easier to use and travel with. Other than that, I like the packaging and I like that the tub is color green. 🙂 (not that it matters but, oh well…)

PERFORMANCE – The gel is easy to apply and the instructions are simple and easy to follow. They (instructions) are written clearly at the back and in English. Most Korean brands don’t offer English translations for their ingredient list, claims and directions for use so it’s always an extra step to look them up online. The Face Shop is one of the brands that always includes English translations and I highly appreciate that. As for the product itself, I recommend this soothing gel to EVERYONE. I think everyone can use this product and use it with ease. It claims to be an all-around or multi-purpose product (see picture below) and I agree. I use this product for a variety of uses and I enjoy applying this to all the areas of my body that need extra care or moisture.

LONG TERM USE – I have been using this product for a long time. I’ve also repurchased this a couple of times already. That says a lot about how much I use and love this product because a tub contains 300mL of product. That is a lot; but if you use this on several parts of your body, (not just your face) you’ll probably run out of it as fast as I do. (about 4-5months) It helped improve the texture of my skin and also reduced my dark spots. Although I would not rely on this alone to solve my skin issues, (bumps, acne scars, pimples, dark spots, huge pores, and dry patches) I still continue to use it because it helped my skin a lot so far. I also like that it is lightweight and non-greasy. It absorbs quickly and leaves the skin feeling moisturized enough. I heard some people even use this as their primer and love it. ❤ It is truly an amazing product that I recommend to everyone. It is definitely worth the hype in Korea and the rest of Asia. 🙂

VARIETY – The Face shop and even other Korean brands offer a lot of products in their aloe skin care line. However, the aloe gels are undeniably the most popular. The Face Shop also offers another type of soothing gel (bamboo) and a moisturizer/cream in the same type of packaging (tub). If you want to try other types of moisturizers, you can find a lot of options from The Face Shop.

VALUE FOR MONEY – A 300mL tub of aloe soothing gel costs PHP195 at The Face Shop Philippines. The Face Shop is an affordable brand here in the Philippines; but their products are even cheaper when you buy them at Korea. (road shops) Here in the Philippines, you can get them at The Face Shop mall branches and department store counters throughout the country. Just be quick to get and hoard them while they’re in stock because they get sold out pretty quickly. (It must be that good, eh?) 😉

That’s all for this post. I hope you guys liked it. I’ll see you in my next Skin Care Game-Changers post. Annyeong! :*
